deadbeat beat
finally posting a band that still exists. this format is kind of weird for talking about current bands, but i’ll work on it.
deadbeat beat formed out of the breakup of the decks (who i’ll post about once i track down their record). cool garage/surf/reverb rock from detroit.
here’s a review i found courtesy of get bent!
“It seems like a lot of us missed out on Michigan’s Deadbeat Beat when their debut albumWhen I Talk to You was released back in April; it’s been like an elusive gem of 2011. Mellow, surf-laden garage rock sounds, a jangling Rickenbacker, a distinctly clear sense of melody, warm harmonies, solid songwriting, and a dash of whatever is left of the summer sun all make this album a thoroughly great listen. Deadbeat Beat are most obviously 60s-inspired, but after listening to an album’s worth of material, the sound and mood they create ultimately ends up feeling timeless. From the chilly, autumnal surf rock sway of “No God” to the perfect pop of “See You All the Time” to the clever jingle of “Mary, Mary”… of all eleven tracks, there’s not a single bad apple. “
